This week West Suburban Athletic Conference play continues as Lyons faces off against Downers Grove North who will try to rebound from a disappointing lost to York.  In the three game series, the Trojans of Downers Grove North split a double header at home losing 9 to 3 and winning 6 to 5.  Monday they traveled to York and put up six runs in the first inning and another five runs in the fourth to take a 12 to 5 run lead.  The York Dukes mounted an impressive comeback scoring five in the sixth and three in the seventh when #3 Jabari Morris took a two strike curve ball into center-field  tagged and advanced to second on a deep fly ball to right field and scored on a double to center field by #40 Brian Peterson the pitcher of record.  #35 Mike Nasser followed with a double of his own to tie the game and #7 Sam Craggs delivered the game winning hit scoring Nasser.  York won 13 – 12.

The Trojans will hope that the hot bat of #6 Patrick Geraghty and #13 Costa Sampras will stay hot against the great pitching rotation that Lyons will mound.

Oak Park and River Forest will have a full week playing Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and a double header Saturday.  These games will bring them competition from De La Salle High School coming off a disappointing lost to St. Ignatius; Fenwick, Downers Grove South, and Leyden.

York will square off against both Proviso East and West while Willowbrook will face the high octane offenses of Hinsdale Central and Morton.  Addison Trail will lick their wounds this week and prepare for a double header against Proviso East.

With conference play underway, the season will get exciting very quickly as the difference between champion and runner up is predicted by Stats and Blogs to be one game.
